Cars eventually, but they only work when you are close. When you not there, they dont stop zombies as they dont count as walls.

I have a hammer , more than enough nails and plank on me, and i have already barricaded 2 windows on the building but i can't seem to put up planks on either the door or the 3 remaining windows. But both inside and out were under the effect of vanished barricades that couldn't be removed or done in metal for a second time.

That said, everything static (so not doors or windows) with the exception of barricades is invincible to zombies in this game unless it is moved by the player or created by the player. This includes walls and fences, so it's not unique in this respect.
