Dec 1, 2014 · My Son recently purchased a beautiful 2012 Dodge Durango with 13,000 miles on it. After a few weeks he started to experience intermittent problems starting the car. It would startup and then shutoff after 5 seconds. Tried to restart car it would just turn and turn as if out of gas. Check all the connections between the starter and battery. You could also check voltage drop when you engage the starter, both at the battery and also on the starter motor lead. Otherwise, pull the starter and get it tested. Start the Durango and voltage at the battery goes to 16.7v, voltage at the fuse box is 10, 9, 8, 7, 6 dropping. Electronics go nuts, engine sputters and shuts off. This is an excellent example of why the first place to start when you have a starting and/or electrical problem is the battery and charging system. New batteries can be bad or go bad, especially if they sit unused for an extended period of time.

The lights have been a major issue for a while now and the wipers have themselves at times.
