The Defenders have the Series 80 system and any Kimber with a II in the name has the old Colt Swartz safety in it. Also the Colt/Talo Commander has a normal guide rod and plug so field stripping is traditional. I think if I wanted to carry a little 1911 again I would look at the ones Ruger recently introduced.I own both the P938 and a Kimber Ultra Carry CDP II. Two vastly different guns, difficult to compare. Personally I find the Kimber a tad too much to carry and a bit finicky as many 1911's tend to be. On the other hand reliability of the P938 is questionable. Mine was fine until about 500 rounds in and I started having issues with hollow points.
