This story has been updated. DeKalb County, GA — In observance of Memorial Day on May 29, garbage, recycling and yard trimmings collection for DeKalb County residents will run one day late. There will be no sanitation service on Monday, May 29, according to a press release. Here is the county's sanitation schedule:Residents who are certified as handicapped by the State of Georgia may request side-door sanitation pickup at no additional cost. Please note that Arrow Waste will not pick up items in the backyard or inside any closed gate or enclosure. Contact Arrow Waste Customer Service at 770-441-3037 to start this service.A total of 251 residents from Brookhaven and Chamblee were served at the recycling event. A total of 29,247 pounds of hazardous waste was diverted from the water system and landfill, including: - Styrofoam, 330 pounds. - Plastic Film, 201 Pounds. - Electronics, 6,060 Pounds. - Household Goods/Textiles, 728 Pounds. - Paint/Chemicals, 21,928 Pounds.
